I am a lawyer and psychologist working primarily as a mediator. Most of my work is with people involved in legal disputes with deeply personal implications, whether in employment, injury or relationship and family context.
In mediation, I meet people where they are with respect for their own experience and perspective. Many years of legal experience helps focus our work on practical resolutions and realistic attention to the potential outcomes of litigation. Equally important is providing space for recognizing and beginning to work through the life issues underlying the legal dispute.
My consistent experience through conducting hundreds of mediations has been that people find a great deal of relief in resolving disputes without the time, energy, conflict, risk, cost and delay of litigation. Almost never is either party completely satisfied with all aspects of resolution but always are the parties freed to return their attention to living their lives and conducting their businesses.
Other aspects of my legal work involve investigation and assistance in resolving situations with legal or ethical implications in organizations or governmental processes. I also teach research ethics and other topics within the fields of transpersonal and transformational psychology, as well as supervising doctoral research. Certified by the Grof Transpersonal Training Program, I facilitate Holotropic Breathwork for individuals and groups, co-facilitating frequently with Kirsten Kairos.
Since early 2014, I have divided my time between Montana and the New York City area.
